TitlePLUS title insurance is available from coast to coast¹

Lawyers in all provinces and territories can secure TitlePLUS coverage for consumers who buy or refinance/mortgage property.¹

If no lawyer(s) in your firm are TitlePLUS Subscriber(s), you, as a lawyer, simply complete the TitlePLUS Canada Subscription Agreement (, size: 236KB) and return it to us for approval. Your area consultant will contact you to introduce him/herself and tell you more about our products.

The TitlePLUS Program offers comprehensive title PLUS legal services protection²
The TitlePLUS Program offers consumers and lenders alike some of the most comprehensive title-related protection available on the market today. Its policy automatically insures both buyers and lenders for title-related problems that could affect the ownership or marketability of the property in the future, as well as for the legal services provided by the lawyer closing the transaction (excluding OwnerEXPRESS^®).

Moreover, TitlePLUS coverage insures against many of the risks that normally would be beyond the scope of the lawyer's opinion — issues such as fraud, forgery, survey errors, the absence of an up-to-date survey and errors made by governments.

If a pre-existing problem with title surfaces after the deal has closed, or if it is discovered that the lawyer made an error or omission, LAWPRO either pays to rectify the problem (for example, moving a garage off a neighbour's property line) or compensates the appropriate parties, potentially up to the full value of the title insurance policy. The insurer also will pay the legal costs of defending the title.

The TitlePLUS Program eliminates delays and facilitates complicated closings
The TitlePLUS Program will often provide survey coverage without an up-to-date survey, thus saving the purchaser money, in most cases. It can also provide insurance against known minor issues (such as a minor setback deficiency), which often hold up closings because lenders are wary of advancing funds until these issues have been resolved. With TitlePLUS title insurance, the closing can proceed on time, and LAWPRO assumes the risk associated with rectifying the issue in the future, if necessary.

Coverage for all types of transactions
TitlePLUS coverage is available for new and resale homes, condominiums, cottages, rural properties and residential rental properties of up to four units, and covers both purchase and mortgage-only/refinance transactions. Coverage is also available for residential properties where the owner(s) did not get a title insurance policy at the time of purchase.

LAWPRO and Insurance Brokers
LAWPRO has relationships with insurance brokers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Quebec. These insurance brokers assist with the sale of TitlePLUS policies and are compensated by way of commissions paid by LAWPRO.

The compensation from LAWPRO may involve a combination of an annual base payment plus a "per policy" commission over a defined policy sale threshold, or may be strictly a per policy commission.

LAWPRO does not own or provide loans to any insurance brokerage firm, nor does any insurance broker own shares in or lend money to LAWPRO.
