TD Canada Trust will accept TitlePLUS policies nationally
We are happy to announce that we have verbal approval from TD Canada Trust that they will now accept our policies on a national level.

Watch for the addition of TD Canada Trust to our list of TitlePLUS Canada lenders, available at titleplus.ca.

Fraud Alert
Incidents of real property fraud are currently being reported at an unprecedented rate. One title insurer recently reported that fraud claims in the month of January of this year alone comprise greater than 25% of all fraud claims it has received since the early 1990s. The TitlePLUS program is certainly not immune to these types of claims and we are constantly striving to reduce the risk to our purchaser and lender insureds.

Depending on the circumstances, lawyers and their staff can play a role in protecting clients (and themselves) from fraud. As such, we urge you to review the "Fraud Tips" article available at titleplus.lawyerdonedeal.com or lawyermortgage .com in the "Documents" drop-down menu. You may also obtain a copy of the Special Report on Fraud from these sites.

As always, please bear in mind that if the client or the source of the client referral seems too good to be true, it probably is. The same reasoning applies to your legal fees. Value Fraud
"Value fraud" involves a lender being induced to loan more against a property than its true value would justify. Watch out for new requirements appearing in lender instructions, as lenders work to combat value fraud. Depending on the lender, you may now be required to:

The GoodMortgage program is a fixed-price, Web-based Ontario refinancing package.

This innovative program provides:

The GoodMortgage program brings the lender and the TitlePLUS lawyer together to form an effective team, providing clients with a higher level of service by delivering quicker turnaround times, reduced disbursement costs, faster pay-outs (through GoodMortgage Instant Funding), professional advice, and the security of TitlePLUS coverage.

Currently, five lenders are participating in the GoodMortgage program.

RealtiPLUSWeb™
The transfer of RealtiPLUS® from desktop software to a Web-based platform is nearly complete. Currently, a group of lawyers from across Ontario is participating in a pilot project to test the new RealtiPLUSWeb program.

RealtiPLUSWeb offers lawyers a single, unified program from which they can perform all of the functions involved in purchase, sale and mortgage transactions.

It enables users to apply for TitlePLUS coverage while performing other tasks related to the real estate transaction. There is seamless preparation and no duplicate entry for TitlePLUS applications.

LAWPRO Passwords
For privacy reasons, please remember that we can only divulge a LAWPRO password to the lawyer who created it. Lawyers may also set up their own password on the lawpro.ca Web site. Please contact us for further information.

Payment for TitlePLUS Policies
As we have for more than a year, we continue to accept payment for TitlePLUS policies by credit card or pre-authorized debit from your bank account. Payment is taken automatically on the fifth business day of the month following issuance of the policy.

Obtain Approval of your TitlePLUS Application Prior to Closing
Please remember to submit your TitlePLUS application for pre-approval before closing the deal.

If the application is submitted for pre-approval after closing, TitlePLUS may not provide coverage for the transaction. It is completely within TitlePLUS' discretion to deny coverage as the application was submitted for pre-approval after the closing date.
