General Information for Lawyers
TitlePLUS title insurance is the only all-Canadian title insurance product on the market today. It was developed in 1997 by Lawyers' Professional Indemnity Company (LAWPRO) in conjunction with members of the real estate bar. Since then, we have continued to keep you central to the real estate transaction by combining the best of title insurance with the talent, skill and knowledge that you bring to the deal.
We are the only Canadian member of NABRTI (North American Bar-Related® Title Insurers). To gain entry in NABRTI, we demonstrated compliance with 10 operating principles, such as a commitment to working with the real estate bar in the public interest over the long term, delivering the title insurance product only through lawyers, and educational initiatives aimed at informing the public and lawyers about the role of the lawyer and title insurance in the real estate transaction.
A TitlePLUS policy automatically includes coverage for the legal work you provide in the real estate deal at no additional cost (excluding OwnerEXPRESS® policies and Québec policies). This means that if you were to commit an error or omission in the transaction for which liability is imposed by law, your client would be explicitly covered by the TitlePLUS policy, and there should be no need for you to file a claim against your Errors & Omissions policy (depending on the requirements of your specific E&O insurer).
How to join
- If you are the first lawyer in your firm who wishes to take advantage of the benefits of the TitlePLUS program, complete a TitlePLUS Subscription Agreement and return it to us for processing: Subscription Agreement for Ontario or Subscription Agreement for all other Canadian jurisdictions, excluding Québec. Only lawyers in good standing are able to subscribe to the TitlePLUS program.

House Call
A House Call is a personal visit from one of our TitlePLUS area consultants. During this visit, they will provide personal instruction and advice on how to integrate the TitlePLUS program into your practice. There is no charge for this personal, in-office consultation.
